Making Connections and Building Community: Month of Giving
Since the inaugural launch of Tanium’s Month of Giving program three years ago, more than 3,500 hours have been dedicated to giving back to our communities.
Partnering with non-profit organizations around the world, Month of Giving is an opportunity for Tanium team members to come together and donate their time to help others. It also serves as an example of what we can achieve when we all work together to do the right thing.
Last year, more than 700 Tanium team members across three countries and 11 states participated in 21 volunteer events. This year, the Month of Giving program was fully remote, ensuring the health and safety of everyone involved and providing team members complete flexibility to volunteer from their homes.
Partnering with organizations that include Computer Science Teachers Association, Shift.org, Together We Rise, Smithsonian, and Year Up, Tanium also developed a resource bank that allowed employees to search for volunteer activities by type and cause globally. These activities included designating favorite charitable organizations and shopping for everyday items through Amazon Smile, family activities that included creating toys for shelter animals, DIY guides for creating care kits for the homeless, and more.
Through these resources, Tanium employees found ways to actively support a wide range of charitable organizations and programs. For example, Lindsey Reich, a Tanium commercial operations program manager spent a company-supported volunteer day to provide meals for 100 people at Los Angeles Family Housing.
Other employees, like enterprise account manager Eric Bereuter, worked to raise funds for important healthcare efforts.
Eric and his wife, Mandy, launched a fundraising campaign for the Boxer 500 Virtual Run and Walk, an event that aims to raise awareness of colon cancer through the Great Plains Colorectal Cancer Awareness Task Force.
After being diagnosed with Stage 1 appendix and colon cancer following an emergency appendectomy two years ago, Mandy underwent four surgeries and multiple painful treatments. When she was diagnosed cancer-free two years later, she and Eric made a commitment to give back as much as possible.
“Mandy and I are completely awestruck and humbled by the generosity of my Tanium family,” Eric shared, “Most of all, we were touched by the notes from so many of the Tanium contributors whose family or friends had been affected by cancer. I am so grateful to work for an organization with employees that are so giving of their time, words, and contributions.”
Tanium’s third annual Month of Giving program concluded with a company-wide, relay-style walk-a-thon, which saw employees from around the world come together in support of Education Trust, a national nonprofit that works to close opportunity gaps and advocates for the high academic achievement of all students.
